As a city councilor for District #2 which includes the entire Old Pecos Trail (OPT) Scenic Corridor, I advocated for more responsible land use planning and zoning by voting against the Morningstar retirement center at the Elks Club property and, subsequently, co-sponsored a resolution calling for the establishment of developments standards for the OPT Scenic Corridor.

I have repeatedly met with the Southeast Neighborhood Association (SENA) to help implement the resolution and desired development standards. When the process stalled, I intervened and helped make needed changes to staff assignments and strategy to resume progress in the development of such design standards.

I have worked to begin focusing on converging on agreed to standards between city planning staff and SENA representatives. I worked to incorporate new escarpment standards on the ridge along the proposed corridor. I remain committed to seeing more restrictive development standards become part of city policy.
